To facilitate the Oyster Bay property development project, the MTR Corporation is constructing Oyster Bay Station on the Tung Chung Line, providing this new community with convenient train service.

Oyster Bay Station will be located between the existing Sunny Bay and Tung Chung stations on the Tung Chung Line. The works have commenced since late 2023, with the aim of opening the new station in 2030 when the first batch of residents move in.

Overview of the Oyster Bay Station project

The Oyster Bay Station project includes construction of the new station, track diversion works, as well as modification of certain depot facilities and other related preparatory works.

Works Progress (Updated in September 2024)

The following works are being carried out for the Oyster Bay Station:

  • Construction of the southern structure of the Oyster Bay Station
  • Preparation for the relevant track diversion works

 

Environment Protection

The Corporation attaches great importance to and has given due consideration to environmental protection factors in the design and construction of Oyster Bay Station*, to minimise the impact of the project on the surrounding environment while ensuring compliance with the relevant statutory requirements.

 

Environmental Impact Assessment

The Corporation has appointed a consultant to conduct the Environmental Impact Assessment Study for the project to ensure its design, construction and future operation will comply with the relevant requirements in accordance with the Environmental Impact Assessment Ordinance (EIAO). Mitigation measures will also be put in place as appropriate to minimise works impact on the public and environment. The Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) report has been approved by the Environmental Protection Department and the Environment Permit (EP) has been issued for the project.

Environmental Monitoring

The Corporation will conduct environmental impact monitoring in accordance with the Environmental Monitoring and Audit Manual during the construction period. The monitoring data and monthly reports will be submitted to the Environmental Protection Department and made available for public viewing.

Construction Mitigation Measures

We will adopt a series of mitigation measures as recommended in the EIA report a to minimise the environmental impact of this project.

 

Construction Noise

  • Use of low-noise machines at the construction site
  • Use of quieter construction method (like Silent piler)
  • Use of movable noise barriers/enclosures at the works area when feasible

Air Quality

  • Strengthen watering throughout construction period to reduce dust impact on the surrounding environment
  • Covering stockpiled Construction & Demolition materials to prevent dust

Waste Management

  • Use of covered dump trucks fitted with global positioning system, and cleaning the wheels and vehicle bodies before leaving the construction site
  • Reuse of excavated materials on site when feasible
